Impetus : Proposed Strategy for Discussion

Take charge of your destiny or somebody else will

Issue: Progressive reservation policy of Indian Political community

Project: Establish an Information Cell to motivate public action for equal opportunity

Time Frame: Two to three years

Strategy:

  • Create a core group of committed individuals (25 to 30)
  • Establish and sustain Network among targeted audience
  • Provide information and action plans that this Network can use
  • Function & Project this Network as a single unit

Core Group:

  • 25 to 30 like-minded, committed proactive individuals
  • Commitment: Four to Eight hours per week (weekends)
  • Best not limited to a particular geographical area
  • Platform: Blog

Activity:

  • Proactive expansion of the network
    • Through a website, emails, blogs, meetings

  • Sustain the network
    • Weekly Articles on Site, Newsletters, E-zine, Blogs dealing with the following
  • Evolution of Revolution & its impact (Past)
  • Current Affairs- Monitor activities of pro-/anti- reservation groups
  • Repercussions of ongoing current discrimination under the reservation policy
  • Why free/open competition would benefit everybody (future)
  • Guilt Riddance: we are not responsible for what our ancestors did and the caste system is not unique to India-we are proud of our heritage.
  • Research politicians who openly or covertly are anti-reservationists
  • Project Impetus as a vote bank willing to support a politician who willwork for anti-reservationists
  • Action Plans for the network
    • Non-Election Period
      • Spread the Network
      • Identify Equal Opportunity establishments for network
      • Recognition to People who provide equal opportunity
      • Encourage individual in the network to stand up against reservation at every opportunity
      • Inform network about local or national politicians or election
      • candidates who are anti-reservationists
    • Election Period
      • Inform network of election schedules and candidates
      • Research candidates who may deserve network’s support
      • Advisory to the network on appropriate candidates
      • Advisory to non-local networks on how take part in the electoral process
      • Encourage network to safe-guard their vote, waste it in the absence of appropriate candidates
      • Project the network as a vote bank fit to be pursued and pleased
  • Co-ordinate work with other anti-reservationists
  • Attempt sponsorship of a professional lobbyist for the cause

Desired Elements in the Core Group:

  • Skill sets: Web experts, corporate communicators, lobbyists, writers, illustrators, researchers.
  • Personalities: thinkers, idealists, charismatic personalities, worker bees, pessimists (to tell us what will go wrong)
